Disney World set to reopen after Hurricane Milton

Disney World, Universal, SeaWorld and other Florida theme parks are assessing damage, cleaning up and making plans to reopen after Hurricane Milton cut a path over the central part of the state.

Florida’s major theme parks will begin reopening on Friday, Oct. 11 after closing during the deadly storm that made landfall near Sarasota late on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Epcot theme parks, Typhoon Lagoon water park and Disney Springs outdoor shopping mall will reopen on Friday.

Walt Disney World’s four theme parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Springs closed early on Wednesday due to the storm and remained closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was canceled on Thursday night.

“We’re grateful Walt Disney World resort weathered the storm and we are currently assessing the impacts to our property,” according to the Disney World website. “Our hearts are with our fellow Floridians who were impacted by this storm.”

Hurricanes have forced Disney World theme parks to close 12 times over the past four decades, according to WDW News Today.

The Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme parks, Volcano Bay water park and CityWalk outdoor shopping mall will reopen on Friday. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights will also resume on Friday.

Universal Orlando’s theme parks, water park and CityWalk closed early on Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday. Horror Nights was canceled on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“Our hearts are with all those impacted by Hurricane Milton,” said the Universal website. “We are dedicated to helping our community recover.”

SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove and SeaWorld’s Aquatica water park will reopen on Friday.

SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica were closed on Wednesday and Thursday. SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream has been canceled for Friday.

The Busch Gardens Tampa theme park is tentatively set to reopen on Friday afternoon while the Adventure Island water park is scheduled to reopen on Friday morning. Howl-O-Scream is set to resume on Friday night.

Busch Gardens and Adventure Island were closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday by the storm.

The Legoland Florida and Peppa Pig theme parks and Legoland water park are scheduled to reopen Friday.

The Legoland Florida parks was closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to the storm.
