TVING’s upcoming highly anticipated K-drama Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale held a production presentation event. At this event, lead actress Pyo Ye-Jin opened up about her character and shared how she prepared for her role.
The storyline of the rom-com drama revolves around a woman who decides to become the princess of her own fairytale after hitting harsh reality. However, her life takes a sharp turn after meeting the Chaebol prince, who doesn’t believe in love but wants to pursue his dreams. The narrative focuses on how the love story between these two characters blooms. Furthermore, writer Baek Mi-Kyung (as creator) and director Kim Min-Kyung have joined forces for this drama.

In Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale, Pyo Ye-Jin plays Shin Jae-Rim, the woman who turns into Cinderella after facing difficulties in life. The actress shared how she portrayed her role during the production presentation of the drama held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. As reported in IMBC, Ye-Jin explained her take on the character Jae-Rim. She said (originally in Korean), “I think the typical Cinderella fairy tale has the image of a delicate and passive woman. Cinderella does not go out to find the prince herself but meets the prince who brought the shoes with help.”
However, in this drama, it is the opposite. Pyo Ye-Jin shared, “I am self-reliant and bold in finding a glass slipper, know how to decorate myself, and find a man who will love me hard. In this work, I put on the boldness to play Jae-rim, who does not know where he will turn. “You can look forward to it.”
The actress further mentioned, “The process of melting into someone who is not even looking at you is fun, and it will be fun to see a lot of clever remarks. Personally, I think it is a drama that best suits this season. It would be good to have a beer after work and watch it while laughing.”
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale is going to air on May 31, 2024, on TVING. It will have 10 episodes.
