ComingSoon has two exclusive tracks from the score to Tubi‘s upcoming religious slasher movie Killer Body Count.

In Killer Body Count, Cami is mistaken for a sex addict by her devout father and is sent to an isolated rehab center. But when a killer begins to hunt the teens, Cami realizes that her survival and her independence are intertwined in ways she could never imagine.

The score, composed by Spencer Creaghan (Slasher: Ripper, Surreal Estate), merges the film’s religious tonality with its youthful rebellious attitude through the use of Church Organs and Gregorian chant choirs mixed with “Riot Girl” Punk, Black Metal distorted guitars, dark Gothic Industrial music ‘80s erotic techno music, and traditional Hollywood orchestra.

Merging all these styles into a cohesive musical score was no easy feat, but Creaghan pulled it off through a pointed emotional focus on the film’s main themes, Sensuality & Shame, and allowing the film’s main theme to evolve from one of imprisoned betrayal to awaken vengeance.
The score also features a twisted use of the church hymn, “Let Thy Blood in Mercy Poured” a fitting piece for the film’s intense subject matter.

Killer Body Count premieres today on Tubi.

Below are the two exclusive tracks from the score and a description of their inspirations and meaning for the story of Killer Body Count.

Exclusive Killer Body Count Tracks

Arrival

The main theme of Killer Body Count, also known as, the “Whores of Babylon theme.”  This theme captures the feeling of betrayal, shame, mystery, and awakening. We first hear the film off the start of the film in a depressive, betrayed manner. Wailing female vocals evoke pain and anguish, while a looming organ and dark electronics cover our characters in a dark shadows mystery. As the film progresses, this theme is used in a juxtaposed manner to its original statements, which allows it to evolve with the characters. Suddenly that captured imprisoned feeling opens up, it awakens, and what was once shame becomes confidence. The wailing vocal is no longer in pain, but in anger, it is no longer in anguish, but in vengeance. The organ no longer looms over like a shadow, but becomes a knife wielded by the victim to fight back against her oppressor. What was once a sorrowful theme is filled with power, confidence, sexuality, and awe.

We’re The Whores of Babylon

The final cue of the film and the final evolution of the established “Whores of Babylon” theme. The score is inspired by Riot Girl punk, Black Metal, dark gothic industrial, and Marvin Gaye, fused with Church Organs and Choirs. This track has it all melded into one. The Organs merge the classic church sound with the 80s Marvyn Gaye sound; a punk beat keeps us energized, the thick tremolo Black Metal guitars add atmosphere, and industrial synths thicken the entire sound. The choir has evolved from a classical church choir to a power battle cry of our female characters. They’re here to fight back, they’re here to take control, and they’re here to fuck up anyone who aims to silence them or anyone else ever again.
