The 73-year-old musician was on a family vacation in Rome when he collapsed. The fall left Maes with a serious spinal cord injury. The family is holding a silent auction from 6 – 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Old La Cocina in Espanola. The auction will include items from local artists and vendors, gift cards and more. All proceeds from the auction will go toward Maes’ medical bills and the cost for the air ambulance flight from Rome to the University of New Mexico Hospital. The family has also set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the expenses.
