Festival Trailer for Indigenous Canadian Dark Comedy Thriller ‘Seeds’

“You gotta be careful around these people, they’re not our friends.” Level Film in Canada has revealed the first look official trailer for an indie Canadian thriller titled Seeds, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Kaniehtiio Horn. The film is premiering at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival which just kicked off this week, hence the trailer dropping now to build some buzz. It’s described as a “tense thriller that weaves Kanienʼkehá꞉ka connections to the land with a cat-and-mouse game.” Ziggy, a 30-something Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) woman, is offered her first gig as an online influencer, promoting for Nature’s Oath, a seed and fertilizer company. When her cousin summons her back to the rez, she is warned about them and forced into a battle to save her people’s legacy. Starring Mohawk Kaniehtiio Horn (who also writes and directs) with Dallas Goldtooth, Meegwun Fairbrother, Dylan Cook, and Graham Greene. This looks like it has some gritty, nasty twists & turns as a grounded thriller. With Ziggy riding in to kick some ass. Check it out. // Continue Reading ›
