NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The former head of maintenance for the Dora Consolidated Schools was sentenced to prison on corruption charges. Steven Butler, age 56, was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections for six counts involving unfair bidding practices with the Dora Schools.

Prosecutors said he used his position within the district to gain favorable bids on cleaning supplies and services for his own company. The allegations came to light in 2017 after the state auditor found evidence of illegal contracts in the school’s financial records.
