The first showcase announcement for BIGSOUND 2024 has arrived, sporting an enormous 70 names.
The roster features a good mix of established acts – many of whom cut their teeth at earlier BIGSOUNDs – and up-and-comers looking to make their own mainstream breakouts. Among those in the former cohort are Alex The Astronaut, Dear Seattle, Gretta Ray, Sly Withers and Stand Atlantic, as well as two Peking Duk side-projects: Adam Hyde’s Keli Holiday and Reuben Styles’ Y.O.G.A.
As for the emerging artists featured on this year’s bill, we’re excited to catch acts like The Belair Lip Bombs, Rowena Wise and dust as they get closer and closer to becoming household names, as well as other fast-rising stalwarts like Homegrown Trio, Juice Webster, Lotte Gallagher, MUDRAT, Noah Dillon, Park RD, PEPTALK, Sesame Girl, FRIDAY* and Vetta Borne.
The performing lineup for BIGSOUND 2024 was culled down from more than 1,200 applicants. It’s also the first put together by the festival’s new music programmers, Casey O’Shaughnessy and Katie Rynne.
“It has been such a privilege getting the opportunity to program the BIGSOUND 2024 lineup,” the pair said today (June 24) in a joint statement. “We are blown away by the calibre of artists that applied this year, and we’ve discovered so many amazing new artists in the process.
“While it was challenging to whittle it down to the final showcasing artists, we are so grateful to the First Nations Advisory Group and the extended Program Advisory Group that we worked with to help us create this year’s final lineup.”
BIGSOUND 2024 will run from Tuesday September 3 to Friday 6 in its usual home of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley precinct. Altogether, the festival will feature more than 120 artists performing across 18 venues.
Early bird delegate passes are on sale now, with standalone tickets for the music festival going on sale at 9am tomorrow (June 25) – head here for more info on all ticket types.
In an effort to make the festival more accessible to those struggling with the current cost-of-living crisis, the BIGSOUND team are offering discounted tickets to punters aged 25 and under – one-night passes will run just $25 (compared to the standard rate of $44.50), with three-night passes priced at $75.
