Inside Out 2 is set to release in just a few days, and early box office projections point to the Disney sequel being another strong movie to perform this summer.

What are the Inside Out 2 box office projections?

Early box office estimations (via Deadline) point to Inside Out 2’s box office projection being one of the best of the summer, with experts suggesting the film could launch at upwards of $85 million in the U.S., and $50m globally, totaling a $135 million global launch.

Should those numbers ring true, Inside Out 2 would set the benchmark for biggest opening of the year to date in the U.S., and would come in behind Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ($194 million) as the second-highest global launch of the year. The report also suggests that Inside Out 2 will have the biggest post-COVID opening for a Disney animated movie, which would be huge for the company.

“In the follow-up to 2015’s Oscar-winning Inside Out, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts—aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment show up,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

The voice cast for Inside Out 2 includes Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, Liza Lapira as Disgust, Maya Hawke as Anxiety, Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui, Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment, Kensington Tallman as Riley Andersen, Diane Lane as Mrs. Andersen, Kyle MacLachlan as Mr. Anderson, Lilimar as Valentina “Val” Ortiz, Paula Pell as Mom’s Anger, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green as Bree, Grace Lu as Grace, Yvette Nicole Brown as Coach Roberts, John Ratzenberger as Fritz, June Squibb as Nostalgia, and Ron Fuches as Bloofy.

Kelsey Mann directs Inside Out 2, while the screenplay comes from Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, based on a story by Mann and LeFauve. Mark Nielsen produces the movie, while Pete Docter, Jonas Rivera, and Dan Scanlon serve as executive producers.

Inside Out 2 releases in United States theaters on June 14, 2024, from Pixar.
