Judas Priest‘s Rob Halford isn’t hanging up his boots anytime soon – see what the legendary metal singer had to say about retirement.

The Judas Priest frontman recently spoke to Iowa’s Rock 108, where he spoke about whether he intends to retire soon or not. As transcribed by Classic Rock, Halford said: “I think if your desire is still there, if your passion is still there, if you can still deliver the goods – to quote a Priest song – if you’re moving along and the machine’s not too wobbly, you can still get from A to B on one wheel, as long as it looks good and sounds good and all the other pieces are in place, why would you want to retire?

He continued: “I wouldn’t know what to do with my life if I suddenly couldn’t do this beautiful work. I need to do it. It’s part of me that I need to do to live as a person because I love it so much. And I think I’m speaking for everybody in Priest. And that’s the leading light that pushes through. That’s what keeps you carrying on.”
Halford then went on to say that Judas Priest’s reluctance to retire is partially due to the energy they still draw from their loving fanbase: “You marry that instantly with our glorious fans here in America and around the world that have kept this heavy metal machine rolling, because we can’t do this alone. We’d look pretty dumb going into an arena if there’s nobody in there. You need people there. That’s part of the experience. It completes you. A live show completes the love of your band.”
Most recently, the band’s bassist Ian Hill has said that Judas Priest are in the midst of re-mixing their debut album ‘Rocka Rolla’, which has just turned 50: “It’s just coming out shortly, I believe. It’s only a few weeks away, I’m sure it is… It’s gonna be re-released, which is great news. It’s finally got the production it’s always needed.”

Elsewhere, Halford recently reflected on how he came out as a gay man while performing live on MTV in 1998, saying: “It’s never too late to set yourself free because, as we know, once you’re out, the attacks float away. I’m fucking here, I’m queer, get fucking used to it!”
Judas Priest released their 15th album ‘Invincible Shield’ in March.
