Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA star Carmelo Anthony, set to visit USC

LOS ANGELES — One of USC athletic director Jen Cohen’s most gushing statements about new men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman, during her address in April welcoming the former Arkansas coach to USC, was his relentlessness as a recruiter.

“Unbelievable,” Cohen said then. “And a developer of young men. He’s put a lot of guys in the NBA, he’s helped a lot of young men reach their goals.”

And in half a year at USC, former NBA coach Musselman has wasted no time pushing for some of the most high-profile recruits in the nation – including one who already has clear-cut pro ties himself.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the Southern California News Group on Thursday that 2025 prospect Kiyan Anthony, son of 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, is set to visit USC from Sept. 14-16. First reported by 247Sports, the young Anthony’s interest further materializes the possibility that USC could see the son of an NBA legend grace the Galen Center for the second time in three years, after now-Laker Bronny James’ freshman season in 2023-24.

Anthony, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from New York, has spent the offseason lighting up social media with scoring outbursts at camps and showcases. A fluid ballhandler and shot maker, Anthony’s natural scoring ability pops on film, a strong fit for Musselman’s history of developing big guards – take 6-6 Moses Moody at Arkansas.

USC has yet to land a 2025 commit under Musselman, but continues to make a play for some of the top prospects in the class. Forward Tounde Yessoufou, out of St. Joseph High in Santa Maria, visited this summer, as did Roosevelt (Riverside) guard Brayden Burries.

“The USC brand, it is a national thing,” Musselman said this summer. “Fun to recruit to.”
