LANY Postpone Australian Tour Following Serious Accident

American pop-rock band LANY have postponed their upcoming Australian tour, which was due to begin next week after lead vocalist and guitarist Paul Klein was involved in a serious accident.

In a statement, the band revealed that they’re already looking to book new dates in Australia and New Zealand and encourage fans to hold on to their tickets until more details are revealed. Once the new dates are announced, punters who can’t make it can obtain a refund from their original point of purchase.

As for the postponement, Klein revealed that he was hit by a car while riding a Vespa last week and ended up transported to the hospital on a stretcher inside an ambulance. He now needs time to focus on recovery.

Stating that he feels lucky to be alive, the performer wrote:

hey everyone – on thursday night of last week, i got hit by a car while i was on my vespa heading home from the gym. i don’t really remember anything after the collision… i woke up on a stretcher being put into an ambulance. i’ve cried a lot of thankful and happy tears during the last few days. i know how fortunate i am to still be here.

all of my vitals are good, but walking and moving around is still a challenge. i’m getting progressively better though and will be at 100% really soon. the doctors have advised we reschedule our upcoming shows in australia and new zealand to fast track the recovery.

for those of you that have purchased a ticket for aus/nz, hold onto them and the new dates will be released shortly. thank you for understanding. this experience has only intensified the feelings of purpose i have, so i can’t wait to heal up and get back to it. all other tour dates are staying the same. i love you and this life deeply! see u soon

LANY were due to begin their tour at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall next Wednesday (19 June), followed by massive dates in Perth (HBF Stadium), Adelaide (Hindley Street Music Hall), Sydney (Hordern Pavilion), Melbourne (Margaret Court Arena), and Auckland (Auckland Town Hall).

The band have been touring in support of their latest album, a beautiful blur, which peaked at #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

LANY last toured Australia in May 2022 with special guest Sasha Alex Sloan. Catching them at Margaret Court Arena, The Music reviewer Michael Prebeg wrote, “Klein demonstrates incredible showmanship and strong stage presence by running laps and even diving into the mosh pit at one point before making his way through to the lower seated area to sing amongst the excited crowd stage left.”
