Linkin Park returns with new co-vocalist, album and world tour stop at the Kia Forum

After a seven-year hiatus following the 2017 death of frontman Chester Bennington, Linkin Park is back.

In a press release on Thursday, the rap-rock group announced a stop at the Kia Forum on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The date kicks off a series of six dates around the world and will tease new music from their next album, slated for later this fall. Tickets for the show’s presale will start on Friday, Sept. 6, and the general sale will begin on Saturday, Sept. 7. Fans are encouraged to visit LinkinPark.com for more information.

Emily Armstrong of the Los Angeles group Dead Sara joins Linkin Park as the new co-vocalist. Colin Brittain, the singer-songwriter of G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, will also join as the group’s drummer. Returning founding members of the Agoura Hills band include rapper Mike Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Phoenix, and DJ Joe Hahn.

According to the press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn quietly began meeting up again in recent years to spend more time together, reconnect and “spark the creativity and camaraderie that thrived in their friendship since college.” They spent time in the studio making music and jamming with other musicians and ultimately connected with Armstong and Brittain, which inspired “FROM ZERO,” their new album, which will be released on Nov. 15.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero,” Shinoda said in the press release statement. “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.”

In 2017, the group honored the life of the late vocalist Bennington with a performance at the Hollywood Bowl, where everyone from Machine Gun Kelly and Bebe Rexha to Gavin Rossdale and Korn’s Jonathan Davis came out to fill in the vocals and pay proper tribute to their friend.
