Lopez ready for ‘war’ with Leo

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Fight week continues ahead of Saturday night’s IBF world featherweight championship bout between Angelo Leo and Venado Lopez. A press conference was held at the Albuquerque convention center on Thursday and Lopez was confident that he will take out Leo early, despite it being a war.

“If we can end the fight early, we’ll do that,” said Lopez. “Either way, I’m coming back home as a world champion.”

“I have 24 fights under my belt. I’ve heard that a lot, I’ve heard a lot of people say that they’re going to knock me out and all that, so I’m used to it,” said Leo. “23 came short of doing that, so I go in there, do my job. If he says that, he can say I have really good defense, so we’ll see how it plays out on Saturday night.”

Saturday’s main card begins at Tingley Coliseum at 9 p.m. It will be broadcast on ESPN.
