In April, Alexis Bernal took her one-year-old to the hospital and told doctors the baby got her leg stuck in a carrier. Doctors determined the injuries did not match up with Bernal’s claims. Doctors reported the baby having fractures to her arms, legs, foot, and several ribs.

Both Solis-Baca and Bernal were arrested on suspicion of child abuse. Judge Jennifer Wernersbach denied the state’s motion for pretrial detention and released Solis-Baca under the supervision of pretrial services. Solis-Baca is facing a count of child abuse resulting in great bodily harm. Bernal was released under pretrial services on Wednesday.
