Demonstranții s-au adunat luni seară la intrările Universității Columbia, apoi au traversat Manhattanul pentru a se apropia de 5th Avenue, unde se află Muzeul Metropolitan, care a găzduit Met Gala, relatează The Guardian și AFP, citată de News.ro.
Unii protestatari, care scandau „Rafah!” și „Gaza!”, au declarat că intenția lor era să perturbe gala. Alții au spus că nu știau despre eveniment. Între timp, numeroși polițiști au intervenit, separând manifestanții cu baricade metalice de zona în care a avut loc gala.

Anterior, organizatorii acțiunii au anunțat pe rețelele sociale un eveniment denumit „Citywide Day of Rage for Gaza”.
Sursele citate precizează că protestul de luni nu are legătură cu manifestațiile desfășurate în ultima perioadă în campusul Universității Columbia, unde poliția a intervenit în forță.
