Mircea Geoană Registers Logo for Presidential Election Campaign

Deputy General Secretary of NATO, Mircea Geoană, submitted an official request to register his campaign logo for a candidacy in the presidential elections that will take place at the end of the year.

The former president of the PSD submitted an official request to register his campaign logo, as reported by Radu Bozocea, expert in intellectual property rights and partner at the intellectual property agency Weizmann and Ariana Partners.

“There follows first of all a period, two months, of oppositions and submission of observations by any third party who believes that there are reasons that the solgan or logo submitted by the applicant should not be registered and, therefore, assigned. This is also the most important period, exceeding it subsequently presupposes more formal procedures and the result is the issuance of the trademark certificate. So until the date of the elections, it will be partly known whether the submitted trademark can be used legitimately by the applicant, probably that is why this time of submission of the application was chosen”, Bozocean told Hotnews.ro.

Mircea Geoană has not yet announced that he intends to run for the presidential elections, yet media reports and electoral-like events in the past months show quite the contrary.

The government officially announced on Thursday that the presidential elections will be held on November 24. The 2nd round of the presidential elections will take place on December 8.
