Missing memorial honoring slain Albuquerque woman found

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The family of a woman killed while looking for her stolen car said they have recovered a memorial that recently went missing. Sydney Wilson was shot and killed at Smith’s at Coors and Central last year after police say she confronted the suspected car thieves.

In an interview with KRQE News 13 on Monday, the family said someone took the memorial cross they set up in her honor. Wednesday, they got word on Facebook that a brother and sister found the cross while driving home but someone was banging on it.

They said the siblings turned around to get it. “It’s truly amazing that these people remembered the article, stopped, and grabbed the cross for us. And we just want them to know how much that it means to me and my family that they did that for us,” said Crystal Miller, Syndey Wilson’s sister.

The family said they cannot put the memorial back because the base is broken but will set up a new memorial on Wednesday evening.
