Everything we know about the Netflix anime breach

As mentioned earlier, Netflix was hit with one of the biggest cases of anime leaks, which includes shows and films like Dan Da Dan, Terminator Zero, Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, and Ranma 1/2. Although anime leaks are uncommon, this is the first time an entire season of a show has been leaked.

The first six episodes of Dan Da Dan and the Mononoke film have been leaked. Meanwhile, the whole season of Terminator Zero and Ranma 1/2 have been released online. As of the time of writing this article, Netflix has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident. Although most anime leaks on social media contain just the opening and ending, full episodes are being downloaded on torrent websites ahead of their release dates.

While the news does affect fans, it heavily impacts the creators and rights holders who have worked hard to promote the series. Most importantly, Dan Da Dan was set to premiere its English dub at Anime NYC on August 24. The theatrical screening of the anime’s first three episodes is scheduled to begin in Asia on August 31.

Despite Netflix taking the biggest hit from the anime leaks, it isn’t the only platform that has suffered anime leaks. Crunchyroll also saw Re:Zero season 3 episode 1 get released ahead of time.
