New Mexico woman killed in Nevada crash

MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A 22-year-old woman from New Mexico was killed in a crash near Tonopah, Nevada, on May 8, according to Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP).

Officials said the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on US-6 west of mile marker 22 in the eastbound travel lane. A blue 2020 Kia Optima was traveling eastbound approaching mile marker 22 in the eastbound travel lane. The driver of the Tahoe steered to the left at the same time as the driver of the Kia Optima steered to the right.

Summer Reid of Iyanbito, which is in McKinley County, was driving the Kia and died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Tahoe sustained non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle, NHP said. Officials are investigating the crash.
