Original The Saints Members Reunite With Special Guests For Australian Tour

The Saints are back, and they’re hitting the road this November.

With a line-up starring original band members, guitarist Ed Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay, The Saints will be accompanied by Mudhoney singer Mark Arm, Sunnyboys bassist Peter Oxley, and former Bad Seeds/The Birthday Party guitarist Mick Harvey.

Together, the band will embark on a tour entitled The Saints ’73-’78 and will showcase the albums (I’m) Stranded (1977), Eternally Yours (1978) and Prehistoric Sounds (1978).

Kicking things off at the Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide on Wednesday, 13 November, the band then heads to Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal on Friday, 15 November, Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Saturday, 16 November, Fremantle’s Freo Social on Wednesday, 20 November, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, 22 November. The tour wraps up at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre on Saturday, 23 November. Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday, 14 June, via Feel Presents.

The upcoming tour coincides with the release of a deluxe edition of (I’m) Stranded on Friday, 15 November. You can pre-order the box set here.

“It’s great to be given the opportunity to run through this set of songs again and especially the chance to work with a group of people of the calibre of Mark, Mick, Pete and especially Ivor, who is one of the most distinctive drummers I’ve had the pleasure to work with,” Kuepper commented in a press release.

“I’m feeling chuffed that they’re all on board for this. We’ll be concentrating exclusively on material from and around the first three albums, including stuff that hasn’t been performed live in Australia before… or, at least, for a pretty long time…  very much looking forward to this. Catch us if you can, pop fans.”

Ivor Hay added, “I’m really looking forward to having the chance to be playing these great songs again and capturing the original excitement and energy of the first three albums.”

Mark Arm said, “The Saints’ first three albums rank among the best records ever made. They have been a part of my life since stumbling upon them in the early 80s. Their influence looms large in Mudhoney world. I am stoked, stunned, and humbled that I get to join in on this Rock ‘n’ Roll Reality Camp with Ed, Ivor, Peter and Mick!”
