Petrom Signs Deal with Saint-Gobain Romania for Green Energy

OMV Petrom will deliver, in the next five years, about 800 GWh of renewable energy to Saint-Gobain’s 14 locations in Romania, following the signing of an agreement for the supply of electricity from renewable sources for all the company’s facilities at national level.

Deliveries will begin in January 2026 and the energy will be obtained from wind and photovoltaic sources.

“Through the 2030 Strategy, we are committed to supporting the energy transition in Romania and the region, with investments of around 11 billion euros until the end of this decade, of which around a third will support projects with low and zero carbon emissions. We made important steps in the development of a portfolio of energy projects from renewable sources, which will gradually enter production in the coming years”, said Franck Neel, member of the OMV Petrom directorate, responsible for the Gas and Energy activity.

In his turn, Ovidiu Păscutiu, general director of Saint-Gobain Romania, stated that the agreement marks another milestone in the company’s journey to reduce its Goal 1 and 2 emissions by 33% by 2030 – compared to 2017 and to achieve “net zero emissions” by 2050.

Saint-Gobain Romania will  thus cover 100% of the energy needs at all its work points: Saint-Gobain Glass (Călăraşi), Saint-Gobain Isover (Ploiesti), Saint-Gobain Rigips (Turda si Cheia), Saint-Gobain Weber (Turda, Brăneşti, Suceava), Duraziv (Popești Leordeni), Saint-Gobain Prime Glass Working (Vălenii de Munte) and Chryso Romania (Ariceştii Rahtivani).
