Boy Scouts, from Boy Scouts of America Western Los Angeles County Council, joined community members on Saturday, May 25, in a huge Memorial Day effort to place flags on nearly 90,000 grave sites at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.

“We are honored to continue the tradition of placing American flags on the graves of our fallen heroes,” said Lee Harrison, Scout executive of the Western Los Angeles County Council, in an email.
“The Boy Scouts of America has a long history of honoring those who have served our country, and we are proud to be a part of this important event.”
The historic cemetery, dedicated on May 22, 1889, holds a Memorial Day program at 10:30 a.m. on May 27 at 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles. Aside from the many visitors on Monday, the stunning Memorial Day visual — rows and rows of American flags — is seen by thousands of motorists from the adjacent 405 Freeway.
