Presidential elections: Geoana dominates the electorate’s preferences
Nearly a quarter of voters would choose Mircea Geoană in the first round of the presidential elections, with 18.2% supporting Marcel Ciolacu (PSD), 13.5% backing George Simion (AUR), 12.5% favoring Diana Şoşoacă (SOS Romania), and 11.5% opting for Nicolae Ciucă, according to an INSCOP survey commissioned by News.ro. In the second round, the NATO Deputy Secretary General would decisively win against any potential opponent. Additionally, the PSD leader would prevail in a runoff against either Ciucă or Simion, while the PNL leader would win in a final round against the AUR president.
Voting intention in the presidential elections – Round I
Compared to those who expressed their preference for a candidate from the list, regardless of whether they declare that they will vote for sure or not (82.8% of the total sample), 23.7% of voters would vote for Mircea Geoană (independent), 18.2% for Marcel Ciolacu (PSD), 13.5% for George Simion (AUR) and 12.5% ​​for Diana Şoşoacă (SOS Romania). 11.5% of voters would opt for Nicolae Ciucă, and 8.6% for Cătălin Drula (USR). Dacian Cioloş (REPER) was elected by 5.6% of voters, and Kelemen Hunor (UDMR) by 5.5%. 0.8% say they would vote for another candidate.

Compared to the respondents who chose a candidate, 61.2% would vote for Mircea Geoană, respectively 38.8% for Marcel Ciolacu.
Marcel Ciolacu vs. Nicolae Ciuca
If Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciucă were to reach the second round of the presidential elections, 40.3% of Romanians would vote for the PSD leader, and 27.4% for the PNL leader. 23.1% declare that they would not vote, and 9.2% do not know or do not answer. Compared to the respondents who chose a candidate, 59.5% would vote for Marcel Ciolacu, respectively 40.5% for Nicolae Ciucă.

If Marcel Ciolacu and George Simion reached the second round of the presidential elections, 50.1% of the survey participants would vote for the PSD leader, and 25.2% for the AUR leader. 17% declare that they would not vote, and 7.7% do not know or do not answer. Compared to the respondents who chose a candidate, 66.5% would vote for Marcel Ciolacu, respectively 33.5% for George Simion.

If Mircea Geoană and Nicolae Ciucă were to reach the first and second round of the presidential elections, 51.5% of Romanians would vote for the Deputy General Secretary of NATO, and 28% for the President of the Senate. 13.8% say they would not vote, and 6.7% do not know or do not answer. Compared to the respondents who chose a candidate, 64.8% would vote for Mircea Geoană, respectively 35.2% for Nicoale Ciucă. If Nicolae Ciucă and George Simion reached the second round of the presidential elections, 45.3% of those interviewed would vote for the PNL leader, and 30.1% for the AUR leader. 17.3% say they would not vote, and 7.3% do not know or do not answer. Compared to the respondents who chose a candidate, 60.1% would vote for Nicoale Ciucă, respectively 39.9% for George Simion.
Who do Romanians think will win the presidential elections
Ask who they think will win this year’s presidential elections, 19.2% of respondents indicate Mircea Geoană, 17.3% Marcel Ciolacu, and 9.9% Nicolae Ciucă. George Simion is mentioned as the winner of the presidential elections by 8.5% of the survey participants, Diana Şoşoacă by 4.8%, and Cătălin Drula by 0.7%. 2.7% of the total sample indicates another name, 35.6% say they do not know or cannot appreciate, and 1.2% do not answer.
