Roswell Coyotes enter season with unfinished business

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – The Roswell Coyotes finished the 2023 regular season as the top ranked team in class 5A, 12 wins and an appearance in the state championship game. The year ended on a sour note, and the program remains motivated to bring the blue trophy back home.

“We didn’t win the 13th. We knew we were capable of winning that game you know for whatever reason the football gods didn’t go with us that day but it had motivated us,” said head coach Jeff Lynn.

“We know what it’s like to be there, the players there, the upperclassmen being there and we know what it takes to be there. We just want to come out on top this year,” said quarterback Jacob Palomino.

Much of Roswell’s 2023 dominance was thanks to a stout defense. There are plenty of returners on that side of the ball for the Coyotes, including three future colligate players — Mason Greathouse, Noah Lynn, and Aidan Rutley.

“I feel confident that we will be as good or maybe even better as we were last year at the end of the year,” coach Lynn said.

The Coyotes open the season on the road against Los Lunas on August 23.
