Ryu Jun-Yeol breaks silence on recent controversy

As mentioned earlier, at Netflix’s The 8 Show production presentation event, actor Ryu Jun-Yeol has addressed the recent controversies, which involve his personal dating life and ‘greenwashing.’ As per Hankyung, the actor says, “Amid issues related to my personal life, many posts were posted on social media against my will, and I thought it was best to remain silent rather than respond to each one one by one.”

Ryu Jun-Yeol has also been working as an ambassador for public relations for Greenpeace. He is, however, a golf enthusiast. It is known to negatively impact the environment. Thus, when the news came to light, it led to a ‘greenwashing’ controversy. Specifically, when in April 2024, the actor became a caddy for Kim Joo-Hyung, a golf player. He also made an appearance at an event related to it. It drew a lot of criticism.

The actor also mentions this issue at the event for The 8 Show production presentation. As reported by Sports Seoul, He says, “I carefully read the critical public opinion related to it while attending the Masters. It was an opportunity for him to reflect on himself”

He further comments, “It seems like it has been a very difficult time since his debut,…As it is a personal matter, I hope there will be more conversation in interviews or personal spaces rather than through production announcements.”

The 8 Show starring Ryu Jun-Yeol will premiere on Netflix, on May 17, 2024.
