Staying breezy with cooler temperatures

Wednesday morning is clear and mostly calm. Temperatures are warmer than Tuesday morning, starting in the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Today will be another clear day, with clouds moving in during the evening. Winds will start out light, but they will pick up by midday. Wind advisories will be in effect in the Sangre de Cristo, northeast highlands and central highlands from 12 PM to 6 PM, where 55 mph gusts are expected. The rest of the state will see 30 to 45 mph wind gusts this afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will be cooler than yesterday in central and northern New Mexico, thanks to a cold front. Even cooler weather is expected each day through the weekend in eastern New Mexico. A backdoor cold front will bring in that cooler weather, as well as strong east canyon winds on Friday morning, up to 60 mph. Daytime winds will stay lighter on Thursday and Friday. Rain chances will start up Thursday in eastern and northern NM, and there will be daily chances for rain through the weekend.
