The incident took place on Friday night (May 10), during Swift’s show at the Paris La Défense Arena, which marked the second night of her residency in the French capital at beginning of the European leg of ‘The Eras Tour’.

At the gig, one concertgoer saw the baby that was placed on the floor of the pit, and shared it online. In the image, the child is seen lying on the floor, surrounded by adults, beer cups and bags of merchandise from the show. Soon, outrage was sparked among fans online, highlighting how dangerous an environment the busy crowd area is with the unpredictable movement of thousands of fans.

“Not to be one of those people but I would genuinely call security if I saw a baby in the pit because it is NOT safe there,” wrote one person in response to the images. Another chimed in adding: “Get ur baby off the floor and GO HOME”. The latter also went on to share an image showing how full the arena was on the night, with the caption “Just to paint the full picture this is general admission at the Paris show tonight… and that baby is somewhere in the floor AT THIS SHOW!”

“Please don’t bring babies to concerts, their ears are very sensitive and it could affect their hearing,” a third shared on X/Twitter, while another urged anyone who saw something like that at a concert to “call the police”.

“…literally no words. hold your damn child,” someone else wrote, while a Swiftie elsewhere shared: “This is so irresponsible and dangerous that I don’t even find it in me to make a joke about this I hope this baby was not harmed during the show and that someone reported the parent(s).”

La Défense Arena has shared advice for parents of young children on its website, and has stated that it “doesn’t recommend bringing children under the age of four, even if accompanied, particularly due to the high volume”.

“Some events may not be recommended or may be prohibited for children. In such cases, information will be specified on the event details,” it added.

That being said, some other arenas have shared different advice about bringing young children to shows. As highlighted by UniLad, The O2 venue states there is “no minimum age for most events at the arena. But as the shows can be noisy, we don’t recommend bringing very small children to anything that’s not family friendly.”

“If you’re bringing a small child with you, please make sure they don’t disturb other people. And remember, everyone needs a ticket,” it added.

Taylor Swift kicked off the European leg of her ‘Eras’ tour dates the day before the incident took place. Taking place on Thursday night (May 9), the gig was her first since releasing her latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. It also saw her perform nine tracks from the record that have never been played live before.

She will continue to play shows across Europe, and will be heading to the UK and Ireland in June. This will include eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London this summer as part of the run, with support coming from Paramore.
