Telekom Romania Mobile launches the VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) service for all its users

Telekom Romania Mobile today launches VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi), which allows users to make and receive voice calls via a WiFi connection. The new service offers the freedom to communicate from any location, regardless of the degree of mobile network coverage if there is Internet access via WiFi.

VoWiFi will be accessible to all Telekom customers, both subscription and prepaid card users, starting today, exclusively in Romania.

“Today we are launching a new unlimited communication option, WiFi calling, through which users of our services can make calls even when they are in areas with weaker GSM coverage, such as mountainous areas, or in buildings that screen mobile networks. Thus, users of Telekom’s mobile services can enjoy the clarity of the conversation even in such situations”, explains Mircea Hațegan, Commercial Executive Director, Telekom Romania Mobile.

To benefit from VoWiFi, customers must meet the following conditions: have a compatible terminal, have the VoLTE service activated, respectively have the phone connected to a WiFi network with internet access.

VoWiFi will be automatically installed for customers who meet the above conditions. Customers just need to make sure they have the latest software installed and the VoWiFi Call setting in the phone menu is active.

The updated list of compatible terminals can be found at www.telekom.ro/VoLTE. Telekom will expand the range of compatible models as manufacturers update the terminal software.

The technology launch was supported by Samsung as a development partner, which helped to ensure terminal compatibility so that Telekom could offer a superior experience to its users.
