The Boys is confirmed to end with Season 5, but showrunner Eric Kripke has suggested that every spin-off set in the shared universe could still continue beyond that. Furthermore, a spin-off based on Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character has also been teased.

The Boys’ Eric Kripke reveals the possibility of a Jeffrey Dean Morgan spin-off

Kripke recently talked about his potential involvement in upcoming spin-offs such as Gen V and The Boys: Mexico. But, he confirmed that he “won’t be the day-to-day showrunner.” He stated that he’ll “give notes on scripts, and help them break story when they need,” but would not be involved 24/7.

In his interview with Deadline, he was also asked about the inclusion of Joe Kessler, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, in Season 4. Kripke revealed how Morgan’s casting came to be, as he was someone that the creatives always wanted to add to the show, but couldn’t do it due to wrong timings or unavailability of characters.

With The Boys comics-based Joe Kessler coming up in the writers’ room and Morgan being available to play him at the same time, he was finally cast. When Deadline further asked if The Boys Season 4 was setting up a spin-off series with Morgan’s Kessler at the forefront, Kripke laughingly replied:

“Hey, man, if Jeffrey wants to do it, and it works out, who wouldn’t want to Jeffrey Dean Boys spinoff?”

While nothing is confirmed at the moment, fans would be interested to see if Joe Kessler gets to lead his own show in the future. There is no information on whether the series would be a sequel or a prequel either. But currently, Morgan is set to play a major role by teaming up with Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher throughout The Boys Season 4.

The rest of the cast involved in the series includes Jack Quaid as Hugh ‘Hughie’ Campbell, Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, Antony Starr as John Gillman/Homelander, Dominique McElligott as Margaret Shaw/Queen Maeve, and many more.
