Episode 8 kicks off with Girart welcoming Shin and the group to Farnid. He is excited to see Shin and introduces his confidants and the new king to him. Later, Shin and Girart reminisce about their time together on the battlefield. Girart then asks Shin if he will return to his world, as he is concerned for Schnee. Shin replies in the affirmative, but he hopes for a way for everyone to be happy.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Girart tells Shin he is dying and has less than a month to live. He requests a duel, which has been his only regret since 500 years ago. Shin accepts, and the two agree to battle in a week. The episode then shows both Shin and Girart getting ready for the fight. The day arrives, and they head to the forest with the new king of beasts and Girart’s confidants. Shin and Girart take time sizing each other up, with neither party going all out initially.

Girart then unveils his beast transformation and attacks Shin. However, Shin was able to keep him at bay with a few moves of his own. Girart is able to land a blow on Shjin, but his body gives out before he can continue, and he surrenders. To honor his fallen friend, Shin shows Girart his full power. The latter passes away, and his funeral is held. The episode ends with Schnee comforting Shin as he mourns Girart’s death.
