Sabrina Carpenter has given her latest song ‘Please Please Please‘ its live debut at Gov Ball 2024.

The pop singer took over the Gov Ball mainstage on Saturday (June 7) and performed a vivacious set. She performed ‘Please Please Please’ for the first time following its release on Friday (June 7).
Carpenter took a second to read a fan’s sign that read “Please Please Please play ‘Please Please Please’” and said: “Look, I know I said I can’t relate to desperation but I’m just a girl so uhm,” before jumping into the new track.

Last week, Carpenter teased “a surprise” for Thursday, June 6. That surprise turned out to be a follow-up to her chart-topping ‘Espresso’. Produced by Jack Antonoff, ‘Please Please Please’ sees Carpenter begging a lover not to prove her doubts rights: “Please Please Please / Don’t prove I’m right / Please Please Please / Don’t bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice“.
The singer also went on to release an accompanying music video directed by Bardia Zeinali and features her boyfriend, BAFTA award-winning actor Barry Keoghan.
Elsewhere during her set at Gov Ball, the singer created a new ad-lib for her track ‘Nonsense’ which has become a tradition for the song’s performance. For her afternoon slot at the NYC fest, she sang: “Do I text him back, that’s such a tough call / Yhat won’t fit inside me I’m dumb small / People who hate pride can suck my Gov Ball”

On June 3, the ‘Nonsense’ singer took to her official social media accounts to share that her sixth studio album titled ‘Short N’ Sweet’ is set for release on August 23 via Island Records and can be pre-ordered / pre-saved here.
Carpenter has since been accused of copying a French magazine for the artwork of her new album without giving the publication credit.
Recently, the singer responded to the BBC after she was allegedly told to keep her performance “PG” at their Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024 festival, which took place on Sunday (May 26) at Stockwood Park, Luton.
During the outro of her single ‘Nonsense’, Carpenter adlibbed by mentioning BBC by name: “BBC said I should keep it PG / BBC I wish I had it in me”, during which she gestured with her hand before singing “There’s a double meaning if you dig deep” and blowing a kiss to the crowd.
