As a franchise, Scooby-Doo has been entertaining the audience since 1969, when Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! debuted on CBS. There have been two live-action theatrically-released films: Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004). A live-action TV film, Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, came out on Cartoon Network in 2009, followed by Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster in 2010 and Daphne & Velma in 2018.

In late April 2024, Variety quoted a source to report that Netflix was in negotiations to serve as the home network for an upcoming Scooby-Doo Live-Action Series. Like many other Netflix shows, the Scooby-Doo Live-Action Series will have about an hour-long episode. Not much is known about the show’s plot, though given Netflix’s history with Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, there will likely be some twist to the story we know and love.
Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions are producing the Scooby-Doo Live-Action Series, with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg performing the writing duties. Applebaum and Rosenberg will also serve as executive producers on the project.
