Created by Quinn Shephard as an adaptation of the namesake book by Rebecca Godfrey, Under the Bridge is a true-crime drama series streaming on Hulu. The plot follows Godfrey as she begins to look into the murder of Reena Virk, a Canadian teenager of Indian origin. The first season aired between April 17, 2024, and May 29, 2024. Is there an Under The Bridge Season 2 release date?
There is no Under the Bridge Season 2 release date as the show was reportedly developed as a miniseries.
With various outlets listing Under the Bridge as a limited series or miniseries, a second season is unlikely to happen. Godfrey, who passed away in 2022, didn’t write any sequel, so the story can’t continue.
Like the book, the series focuses on Reena Virk’s death and its aftermath. Under the Bridge finishes the story it sets out to tell. It concludes with (spoilers warning) the trial and sentencing of the perpetrators of Reena’s death.
In an interview with the Motion Pictures Association, Shephard reflected on her collaboration with Godfrey and the impact it had on the completed series.
“I don’t think I could possibly overstate her [Godfrey’s] level of influence,” Shephard explained. “It was Rebecca’s book, but so much of her essence and life were part of the show. She was quite generous with sharing that with me, and also giving freedom to explore where we could dip a toe into fictionalization with her character. It was really fun getting to work with somebody who didn’t seem at all precious about her character being sanitized or heroic and who was really game for her being flawed and human.”
The cast of Under the Bridge includes Lily Gladstone as Cam Bentland and Vritika Gupta as Reena Virk. Under the Bridge also features Riley Keough as Rebecca Godfrey and Javon Walton as Warren Glowatsk.
Why Under the Bridge Season 2 might not be happening
Under the Bridge Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the show was created as a miniseries. ComingSoon will provide an update if circumstances change, and Hulu green-lights the sophomore season of Under the Bridge.
The official synopsis for Under the Bridge reads:
“Reena Virk, a fourteen-year-old girl, went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Seven teenage girls and a boy were accused of the savage murder.”
