The international team opened the scoring through Rivaldo in the 21st minute, and in the 28th minute, Pandev scored for 2-0. The return of Romania’s players started in the 40th minute when Hagi passed, and Basarab Panduru scored.

Stelea intervened spectacularly in front of Stoichkov, twice in the same phase, in the 52nd minute, then Hagi equalized with a penalty.

The goal phase of the Golden Generation victory started from Hagi’s pass for Dorinel Munteanu, he crossed in front of the goal and Costel Gâlcă scored with a header.

This was also the final score, 3-2, in favour of the Gold Generation, in a retirement match that filled the National Arena.
