Geoană: Russia Lacks Intent and Capability to Militarily Assault NATO States, Yet….

The deputy general secretary of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mircea Geoană, stated that, at this moment, Russia “has neither the intention nor the ability to militarily attack any NATO state, but a total hybrid war is being launched against us”.

“Obviously, Russia, at this moment, has neither the intention nor the ability to militarily attack any NATO state, but a total hybrid war is launched against us and we see cyber attacks, disinformation, hybrid war, problems related to sabotage, acts of violence and assassinated. (…) There is currently a combination of crises and technological and societal transformations of an unprecedented complexity. That’s why I can say only one thing: thank God that we are in NATO, because of the security issues of a military and derivative nature, we are inside a very strong alliance and we are really in a process of adaptation and transformation of NATO like never before sometime in the last decades, including in defense plans, including by increasing military production”, said Mircea Geoană, on Thursday, at Radio Unirea FM.

In this context, Geoana believes that “it’s time to revive the Romanian defense industry”.

Putin again threatens the West with nuclear forces

On the other hand, amid the commemoration of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the Second World War, two days after Vladimir Putin reconfirmed his autocratic rule through a fifth presidential term, the Russian president began his speech on Victory Day by resuming attacks on the West. “The West is trying to distort the truth about World War II because it is meddling in colonial politics,” Vladimir Putin said.

However, he assured that Russia will do everything to prevent a global conflagration. We know what the exacerbation of such ambitions leads to. Russia will do everything to prevent a global clash,” Putin said in Red Square, after Defense Minister Serghei Shoigu reviewed the troops,  Reuters reported.

“But at the same time, we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic forces are always in a state of combat readiness,” he added.
