Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2 could happen according to producers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver mentioned that they have set up two more movies through Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. However, they also acknowledged that audience reaction will factor into the continuation of the series.
Previously, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball also confirmed that the first film was the start of a new trilogy in a 2023 Empire Magazine interview.
How many more Planet of the Apes sequels will there be?
There could be five more Planet of the Apes sequels according to producers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
In their interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jaffa and Silver mentioned that they saw the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise as having nine movies and that they would like to make that happen. They also mentioned discussing their nine-movie plan with director Wes Ball, writer Josh Friedman, producers Joe Hartwick Jr., and Scott Aversano, and also with 20th Century Studios CEO Steve Asbell.
It remains to be seen whether the new Planet of the Apes movies will last beyond four installments. However, given the franchise’s strong box-office success so far, the continuation of the plan laid out by Ball, Jaffa, and Silver seems likely to come to fruition.
