Local favorites make an appearance at Colorado’s Labor Day Lift Off balloon festival

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico is still getting ready for the upcoming Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, but a few familiar shapes have already taken to the skies for a different balloon festival. Some local favorites were seen representing New Mexico in Colorado’s Labor Day Lift Off weekend.

Balloon Fiesta’s first special shape balloon celebrates 40 years

This year’s balloon festival in Colorado, which began on August 31, welcomed some Duke City favorites, including the Visit Albuquerque balloon, the Meow Wolf balloon, and even Rainbow Riders. Representing the Land of Enchantment, the True-Lee New Mexico balloon took off. A very special shape was also in attendance – the one and only Chic-I-Boom balloon.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is just over a month away; it is set to begin on October 5.
