New Mexico-based nonprofit creates directory for autistic-friendly places

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A new directory is helping those with autism find everyday businesses that make them feel comfortable and accepted.

The directory launched in late April and has more than 100 businesses listed. The directory points customers to businesses that cater to those on the spectrum.

Businesses named in the directory include landscapers, auto repair shops, and accountants, and it was launched by “Wilderwood.” They’re a New Mexico-based nonprofit that focuses on autistic-led programs, research, and services.

The directory has been adding new businesses regularly. People can nominate businesses they feel would be a good fit for the directory through this website.
