NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – United States Senator Ben Ray Lujan is behind a bill to recognize Latino musicians. The New Mexico Democrat teamed up with Florida Republican Marco Rubio on a resolution designated May as Latin Music Appreciation Month.
They say it would celebrate the impact Latin music has had on the U.S. and encourage awareness of its cultural importance and history. The bill highlights dozens of prominent figures like Ritchie Valens, Gloria Estefan, Selena, and Carlos Santana.
