The upcoming thriller C-drama Insect Detective 2 will premiere on May 21, 2024. It features Zhang Yao and Chen Chuyue in the lead roles. It is the sequel to the 2020 drama Insect Detective, which follows the story of Tan Jing Tian (Zhang Yao), a toxicologist, who attempts to clear his name from a murder. He joins hands with a forensic doctor named Jin Ling (Chen Chuyue) to investigate a mysterious murder caused by a rare insect. They team up with a team of detectives to untangle layers of mysteries and catch a murderer who has been continuing his evil deeds for many years.

Season two of the drama will continue the story of Tan Jing Tian and Jin Ling as they attempt to solve mysteries with the help of insects. The official trailer shows the mysterious murders of two women who have been tortured to death in a similar manner. Jing Tian finds traces of venom from an insect called Pogonomyrmex maricopa in their blood.
In search of a twisted and perverted serial killer, Jing Tian travels to Thailand. The killer uses butterflies and moths to scare his victims. The investigators find that the killer has no remorse and will continue his killing spree until he is caught. Jing Tian feels that death follows him everywhere he goes. He vows to unveil the truth even if it causes him his sanity. He does not care about the killer’s identity as long as he gets to serve justice.

Insect Detective 2 will reunite the original leads. Bie Thassapak Hsu will also play a major role in the drama. Other than them, Nine Kornchid Boonsathitpakdee, Nene Pornnappan Pornpenpipat, Lawrence Wong, and others will appear in pivotal roles.
