Sydney Sweeney has reportedly responded to Hollywood producer Carol Baum’s harsh comments about her looks and acting abilities.

The Euphoria star’s representative issued a statement questioning the veteran producer’s character and expressing disappointment in her decision to use her position of power to practically “attack” another female producer in the industry.

Sydney Sweeney says producer Carol Baum’s comments are ‘shameful’

Sweeney did not hold back after producer Carol Baum’s interview with New York Times critic Janet Maslin, where Baum said that she “isn’t pretty” and “can’t act.” In a statement directly emailed to USA Today on Wednesday, a representative of Sydney Sweeney fired back on Baum’s comments.

The statement reads:

“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman. If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”

Sweeney wasn’t the only one to call out Baum’s remarks as the Immaculate movie producer Teddy Schwarzman also criticized what the producer of Dead Ringer had to say. While defending Sweeney in his X post, he wrote:

“As a producer of #Immaculate, I’ll enlighten Ms. Baum that two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney is not only one of the most talented actresses I’ve worked with, but also incredibly smart, kind and humble.”

Schwarzman further added:

“I’m not sure why someone who claims to still be a producer would make such terribly ugly comments, but I can assure everyone that Sydney is at least beautiful on the inside. And, of course, a badass Scream Queen.”
