Two Naperville firefighters sustained minor injuries while responding to a structure fire at a local duplex over the weekend. The blaze caused about $200,000 in damage, authorities said.

Just after midnight Saturday, the Naperville Public Safety Answering Point dispatch center received a call from a passerby reporting a blaze in a two-story duplex in the 2500 block of Eldorado Lane, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 12:09 a.m. and discovered heavy fire on the second floor of the duplex. Firefighters deployed an “offensive attack” and found the main blaze was in a second-floor bedroom, the release said.

No one was home at the time.

The fire was deemed under control by 12:30 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene for another two hours to ensure all hot spots were extinguished, authorities stated in the release.

There were two minor injuries to firefighters on the scene, who were evaluated and released, authorities said.

The fire left part of the Eldorado Lane duplex uninhabitable. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation Monday.
