On May 17 at midnight KST, former 2NE1 members CL, Sandara Park, Park Bom and Minzy took to Instagram to share a series of photos from a recent shoot to commemorate their 15th anniversary. The quartet shared their love and gratitude for their fans (called Blackjack) while leader CL penned messages in Korean and English.

“Today on May 17 as we celebrate our 15th birthday, we wanted to thank all of those who have loved, supported, laughed and cried with us all this time, so we’re standing in front of the camera together for the first time in a long while,” she wrote in Korean.

CL then added in English: “2NE1 has always been my house that made me feel the freedom to love, to play, to express, to create, to shine, to mix, to connect and share with people. Hope today 2NE1 reminds you to feel your light. Thank you always.”

The quartet last reunited in 2022 at Coachella, when CL invited the group to perform some of their popular hits during her performance at the festival’s 88rising takeover. It marked their first live performance together since 2015, before the group’s hiatus and eventual disbandment.

2NE1 made their debut in 2009 with their self-titled EP under YG Entertainment. The group would go on to become one of the most successful second-generation acts in K-pop, spawning hits like ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘I Am The Best’ and ‘Come Back Home’, among many others.

In 2016, following a year-long hiatus, their agency confirmed that member Minzy had left the group. Later that year, YG announced that 2NE1 had disbanded.

Over the last few years, all members of 2NE1 have remained active in the music industry with several solo releases, with Sandara Park also further establishing her acting career.

In other K-pop news, nine-member project girl group Kep1er are reportedly in talks to reorganise as a seven-member act in lieu of extending their contracts with WAKEONE. The agency has since shared that it is still undergoing discussions regarding the group’s contract extension.
