6-year-old child from Gorj allegedly sold in Germany for 8,000 lei

A minor who was part of a family with two more brothers was allegedly sold in Germany for 8,000 lei. The authorities are conducting an investigation after a 6-year-old child, from a commune in Gorj County, was taken out of Romania and taken to Germany using false documents. The Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, says that there is a file at DIICOT, after a notification sent by the Romanian authorities, who in turn received a request for information from the institutions in Germany.

The child is now in the care of the German authorities and the procedure to bring him to Romania is to be carried out.

Local sources told News.ro that the first data from the investigation show that the little boy, who turned six in March of this year, was sold for a sum of several hundred lei.
The child’s father is an alcoholic, and the mother seems to have mental problems, the authorities who went to the family home found. The boy’s older sister and younger brother were found there.
The girl is eight years old, and the youngest brother is two years and eight months old. Both are now in foster care and following a psychological counseling program. The authorities requested other medical investigations for the two children.
