ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Since 2016, the ABQ BioPark has been using the month of April as a celebration of great apes. Known as “Great Ape-ril” the event has raised over $45,000 for great ape conservation.

All through the month, the primate care staff at gives guests special opportunities to learn more about great apes. Saturday’s April 6, 13 and 20, staff will set up special discovery stations near primate habitats. At the stations, guests can ask question, explore biofacts and learn all about different primate species. On Sunday’s April 7, 14 and 21 guests can purchase a special tour with staff. These exclusive tours give guests an in-depth look at different primate species.
