Albuquerque City Council moves to speed up downtown housing development

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque City Council has approved a measure aimed at speeding up housing development downtown. The resolution puts permanent housing projects within the downtown center into the city’s FasTrax program at no additional cost.

Right now, project approvals and construction permits are done on a first-come, first-serve basis but developers can pay an extra fee to be put into the FasTrax pipeline to expedite the process. The new policy will be in place for the next two years.
