Amy Shark is set to move from the Gold Coast to Sydney ahead of releasing her anticipated third album, Sunday Sadness.
The Courier Mail reports (via news.com.au) that the Adore singer listed her Gold Coast home for sale and said about the move, “The Gold Coast will always be home for me, but I’m looking forward to spending more time in Sydney and basing myself there for the foreseeable future.”
Two years after she signed to Sony, Shark and her husband, Shane Billings, bought their home in 2018 for $2.25 million. They purchased a four-bedroom and 3.5-bathroom home with “multiple living spaces,” an in-ground pool, media room, rumpus space, and stunning views of the Gold Coast skyline.
In October, a realestate.com.au report noted that Shark had made her Gold Coast home available to rent for a year, even leaving it furnished and providing pool and garden care.
Shark will release Sunday Sadness via Sony Music Australia on Friday, 16 August.
She announced the record last month, saying in a statement: “I specifically wrote this album on Sundays, constantly daydreaming about the happiest moments and the worst, remembering the best people while still getting over others. I am different on Sundays. I am not sure why, but I bet you are, too.”
“This album is sick. Best I’ve ever done,” she wrote alongside the Instagram announcement.
Thus far, Shark has previewed the new record with three singles: Can I Shower At Yours, which arrived first last June, followed by Beautiful Eyes back in January, and Loving Me Lover, alongside the album’s announcement.
In addition to announcing the album, Shark lamented the grind of being an artist in 2024, telling viewers on TikTok, “Don’t be a musician” in a (sort of) joking video.
Referencing a recent conversation with “the loveliest girl in the whole world” from her label, Shark recalled pressures to utilise Instagram Live, social media reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and more; she said, “I don’t know if it’s worth being a musician right now. It’s really not worth it.”
