The person says the reason why they were contacted was because they were speaking to an underage girl and her parents wanted to press charges. They say the scammer also demanded that they send money to pay for medical bills and even provided a badge number. Police say the number showed up as an actual phone line at the police department.

APD says they will never contact people and request any type of payment over the phone. Anyone who receives those calls is asked to call 505-242-COPS or report it online.
