Autorităţile japoneze au confirmat marți, 2 ianuarie, decesul a cel puțin 30 de oameni după cutremurul cu magnitudinea 7,6 care a zguduit luni, 1 ianuarie, centrul Japoniei. Echipele de salvare luptă să salveze oamenii care sunt îngropați sub casele prăbușite de cutremur, însă eforturile lor sub îngreunate de drumurile avariate și de alte daune grave aduse infrastructurii, transmit BBC și Reuters.

Cele mai afectate zone sunt din prefectura Ishikawa, care a fost epicentrul cutremurului. Aici, autoritățile locale au confirmat moartea a 30 de oameni. Alte zeci de oameni au fost răniți în alte patru prefecturi vecine, inclusiv în Toyama și Niigata, a informat postul public japonez NHK.

Seismul a distrus numeroase case și a lăsat fără curent aproximativ 45.700 de gospodării, a anunțat marți compania Hokuriku Electric Power.

În peninsula Noto din prefectura Ishikawa, mii de militari, pompieri și ofițeri de poliție din toată țara au fost trimiși să intervină.

Avertismentele de tsunami au fost ridicate

În urma cutremurului, urmat de numeroase replici, autoritățile japoneze au emis avertizări de tsunami valabile pentru prefecturile costiere Ishikawa, Niigata şi Toyama. Rusia, Coreea de Sud şi Coreea de Nord au emis, la rândul lor, avertizări de tsunami.

Guvernul japonez a ordonat luni seară ca aproximativ 100.000 de persoane să-și evacueze casele, trimițându-le în săli de sport și școli gimnaziale, folosite în mod obișnuit drept centre de evacuare în situații de urgență.

Toate avertismentele de tsunami au fost între timp ridicate de-a lungul Mării Japoniei, ceea ce înseamnă că nu mai există riscul unui astfel de eveniment.

Valurile au măturat comunitățile de coastă din nord-est și au ucis aproape 18.000 de oameni. Tsunamiul a declanșat o topire nucleară la centrala electrică de la Fukushima, provocând cel mai grav accident nuclear de după Cernobîl, notează BBC.
