Cool, wet, and windy start to April

Another powerful, arctic storm has arrived bringing more winter-like conditions across the state this morning. Widespread showers will persist across eastern New Mexico, with more scattered showers/storms across wester/central parts of the state this afternoon. Albuquerque will likely see a round or two of afternoon rain.

High elevation snow will continue across northern and western New Mexico throughout this afternoon and evening, which is why Winter Weather Advisories are in place for the west central, northern, and Sacramento Mountains through tonight. Winter Storm Warnings are in place across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Raton Pass area with up to a foot of snow likely in the highest elevations.

A few isolated showers/storms are possible Tuesday afternoon, mainly over the mountains, but it will be a lot drier with northerly breezes across the state. Temperatures will remain below average Tuesday, before warming up and drying out even more into the mid to late week. 70s and 80s return to the forecast Thursday and Friday before another strong storm system arrives this weekend. It will bring another big cool down with gusty winds and chances for rain/snow into the weekend. It’s going to be another rollercoaster week of weather, so make sure to enjoy the calmer and nicer weather while it lasts.
